Tanzania, which is home to the People & Predators Fund, boasts some of the most impressive landscapes in the world, including the Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Maasai Steppe and the Selous Game Reserve.
Working in conjunction with the Heritage Conservancy of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the Fund is currently expanding its focus within the Tarangire ecosystem and beyond to other new landscapes that are critical to the conservation of large carnivores. By combining the four key elements of research, planning, implementation and stewardship, the Fund aims to secure long-term sustainability of these landscapes
The Fund is presently planning to expand its focus to the Selous-Niassa Landscape in southern Tanzania, which is home to the beautiful Sable Antelope, the endangered African Wild Dog, and man-eating lions and leopards. In doing so, the Fund will be one of the first conservation groups to locate itself in this remote landscape. Furthermore, the Fund’s efforts will provide support for a trans-boundary conservation effort between the governments of Tanzania and Mozambique to connect the Selous Game Reserve with the Niassa Game Reserve in Mozambique.
