What kind of organization is PPF?
PPF is a 501(C)(3) charitable organization dedicated to community development and large carnivore conservation.
Where is PPF based?
PPF was incorporated in Bernardsville, New Jersey, where the U.S. office is located. The programs are based out of field sites within Tanzania. Click here for more information about PPF's field sites.
Where does PPF work?
PPF focuses its efforts within Tanzania, East Africa. For more detailed information see our pages on focal sites and for more information on Tanzania, click here (outside link).
What programs is PPF working on?
PPF has three current programs: the Livestock Predation Program, the Conservation Education Program, and the Internship Program. Additionally, we have two up-coming programs: the Malaria Prevention Program and the Training and Capacity Building Program.
What are the main problems and issues that PPF is working on?
PPF is currently working on resolving conflicts between village communities and large carnivores as well as increasing knowledge about the importance and benefits of healthy ecosystems. We also plan to begin addressing community health needs in the near future as part of our mission to support the development of healthy communities from both an environmental and social standpoint.
What are PPF’s main needs?
Continued support and growing awareness of our cause and initiatives is crucial to the success of our programs and organizational development. We are also looking for appropriate partner organizations as the need arises. Due to the size and remoteness of the areas that PPF focuses on, vehicles are crucial to our daily work and the ability to expand. Some additional items that we need are:
- Multi-frequency HF radio x2
- VHF base radio
- VHF hand held radios x6
- Laptop computers
- External hard drives
- Garmin GPS (GPSMAP® 76Cx, GPSMAP 76CSx preferred)
- Canon EOS lenses
- Digital point and shoot camera
- 1000w Power inverter (12v-110/220)
- Re-chargeable MagLights
